Today one of the most controversial topics has to do with the right for women to choose for the medical procedure of abortion. This topic has been debated for several years between Anti-Abortionist and Pro-Choice groups. Some have even went as far as taking matters into their own hands by violent acts, which is extreme and unnecessary. Acts of violence are certainly not the way to handle anything and are certainly not advocated by this ministry.

Many religious groups have taken a stance that the Bible does not give any guidance concerning abortion. While others attempt to show scriptures where it is discussed. In other words it is a battle of scripture. I have listened to many that are for it and against it and read the same. The purpose of this article is not to conduct the same type of warfare, as that would be futile. But what I want to do is give you the reader a reason to really take the information and think hard about what is going on and what is right. This doesn’t mean that I do not use scripture to back it up because the Word of God is powerful and tells us everything we need to know. So I hope that you will take the time to read this article and pray hard about what is happening in America. So with that lets ask ourselves the question, “Is abortion murder according to the Bible?” “Does God approve of it?”

The Bible states in Exodus chapter 20 verse 13, “Thy shall not kill.” (KJV). Another word that has been translated from the original Hebrew version is “Murder”. Webster’s II dictionary defines murder as such, “to kill a human being unlawfully, especially in a malice aforethought”. (Webster’s II Dictionary, pg. 453) There are many types of laws today that define the different levels of murder or the taking of someone’s life. The Bible also gives different levels of murder and the consequences for such sinful actions. (see Exodus and Leviticus) Of the different levels is that of premeditated murder. It is simply the act of thinking or planning out the murder and then doing the crime. A person that does this type of murderous act takes careful thought as to how, when, and where to conduct the atrocity against another person. To do such an act against someone would mean that either they are mentally ill or just plain evil. Here is what the Bible says about a wicked or evil heart: Psalms 10:4-8 4The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. 5His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. 6He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. 7His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. 8He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

A person that has God in their life will not wish to harm another, especially take another’s life. God cherishes the life in which He gave to that person and it is only His place to take it. Satan on the other hand thrives on making humans destroy one another, for he was liar and a murder in the beginning. Ever since the first murder was committed as told in Genesis chapter 4:8-15 we know that God disapproves the taking of life. So in knowing just this little bit concerning the law of God and of man about murder what is abortion? King David wrote this particular verse in Psalms concerning children:

Psalms 127:3-5 3Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

God created all things to reproduce and fill the earth with its own kind. Notice in the above quote from the Bible in verse 3. Children are not just a product from an act but a reward given to us from God whom He cherishes. Who then are we to determine if a child lives or dies? Is it not God’s decision as to what happens?

The next question we must answer is how do we know if a fetus is a human being? Or maybe a better question to ask our self is when does the fetus become a human being? The scriptures tell us that God knows us even before we are born out of the womb. But that does not really answer the questions. The scriptures tell us in Genesis that God breathed life into the nostrils of man when He had formed man. This seems to be very controversial between groups because of the word “breathed or breathe”. Pro-Choicer’s take a stance that in order to be alive we must take that first breathe. While Anti-Abortionist takes the stance that the word means otherwise. What most theologians and scholars seem to think is that when God breathed life into Adam He was breathing the actual soul into him. Essentially it depends on whom you talk to and how they interpret the scriptures. So how do we determine when the unborn fetus is actually “alive” and a functioning human being? Lets discuss what the medical science has to say about all of this.

Abortion is a medical procedure where a fetus is taken out of the womb, or uterus, of the expectant mother. Several types of procedures are available today, which consist of use of drugs and or surgical procedures, depending on the term of pregnancy. The procedures are done normally up to 20 to 23 weeks term in the pregnancy. Just so you know, in case you do not, the surgical procedure is nothing more than the cervix being dilated and then the womb is literally vacuumed and scraped of all tissue including the fetus. The last and most recent uproar over the abortion procedure is the “Partial Birth Abortion”. This is where the abortion takes place on a nearly full term to full term pregnancy. This procedure is slightly different. The woman goes into labor and actually begins the delivery procedure; however, instead of the baby coming headfirst it is turned around so that it comes out feet first. The physician then begins delivering the infant but keeps the infants’ head in the birth canal so that it is not totally born. The next procedure is where it really becomes controversial. The physician takes an instrument and inserts it into the base of the brain and mangles the brain then sucks the brain out of the head, leaving the baby dead when it is pulled out completely.

So is the infant actually alive? The opinion of the Pro-Choice is “No” because the infant never took its first breath, had it been taken completely out then it would have been different. Or would it? This brings us back to the issue of the word “Breathe”. I do not know of any birth where a doctor does not assist the newborn in taking its first breath. All that they have to do is finish pulling out the infant and assist it in taking the first breath and it is a living breathing human being. When a person becomes a physician they take an oath to do everything in their ability to save life and limb and to prevent undue suffering. Unfortunately, this does not seem to hold true in this case does it? But here is where it gets really eerie.

According to new evidence from the medical community and testimonies of such, they attest that these unborn infants can feel pain during this procedure, not to mention that the infant’s brain is active, the heart pumping, and the blood flowing. Doesn’t this make for a live functioning human being? All that stands between life and death is that first breath of air that is stopped because the mother does not want it. Oh one more thing, many have stated that when they witnessed this procedure they see the infant jerk. This also occurs when someone is shot, stabbed, etc… And we call it murder.

Okay, so we know the definition of murder and the procedure for abortions. There are many types all of which end the development of the fetus. Lets look at one more scripture that comes from Genesis chapter 9 verse 6, “6Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. 7And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.”

This particular scripture is where God is instructing Noah and his family to go and multiply the earth. Noah has just come out of the ark and God is letting them know that they are not to murder and to multiply once again. How do we know that God is speaking of murder? When God tells them not to shed the blood of a man or human because to cause the blood to flow will eventually cause death. Without the blood you can not live, right?! When an abortion is performed that fetus has blood and that blood is shed which in turn according to God’s Word is murder. Lastly, in the book of Revelation we find this concerning what happens to those who are murderers and do not seek forgiveness,

“Revelation 21:8

8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Revelation 22:14-15

14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

It is not for any of us to judge but for God alone to place judgment and in the end we all will be judge by Him. This article has given you the information not to suede you one-way or the other but to give it to you to make a decision. My beliefs and the knowledge I have concerning this terrible topic leads me to believe that it is wrong to have an abortion. What if you were not wanted and your life snuffed out because you were thought of a none living thing? Just think what you would have missed out on. We were made in the image of God for a purpose and it was not to end up in a vacuum hose. There are other web sites that discuss the subject of abortion some for and some against, I urge that you investigate and learn all that you can so you will know without a doubt that it is wrong to do what is being done.
